1945: - Ferenc Puskas made his debut for Hungary and scored in their 5-2 friendly defeat against Austria.
1991: - The Football League went to the High Court for the appointment of an administrator to run the collapsed management committee.
1994: - Paul Brayson, then a 16 year-old scored 8 goals at Newcastle United’s Juniors beat Hartlepool United Juniors 10-1 at Durham University.
1999: - Kevin Ratcliffe resigned as manager of struggling Chester City. He had been in charge since 1995 and once kept the club afloat by paying the water bill.
